The Chocolate Cafe and Museum is probably one of the best attractions for you on Put-in-Bay.This Gem is located about a mile from the downtown area on Catawba Avenue. No matter how old you are this attraction will satisfy your sweet tooth cravings as well as a variety of other options.

The Chocolate Cafe and Museum Details

The layout of the museum is set up where the cafe is located on one end of the building and the museum part is located on the other side. This allows people to enjoy these sweet or savory desserts, before or after walking the museum.

The cafe is known for its unique homemade chocolate recipes, pastries and a variety of cakes.  Another unique feature they also provide is their signature coffees that are just the right pairing with their chocolates. Everything is made fresh at the chocolate cafe where they even grind their own beans every day.

If coffee is not your type of drink you still have the options of enjoying one of their select items of hot chocolate. Hot chocolates are usually made with their unique dark chocolate but their spicy Mexican hot chocolate is also just as popular. They even provide wonderful breakfast sandwiches, muffins, bagels and more.

Visitors have the options of buying a pound of coconut Haystacks to simply having a single piece of dark chocolate Sea Salt Caramels. They also have a bakery that makes the best cakes such as the rich Turtle Cheesecake, mixed berry cheesecake, Tiramisu, and sponge cake. A great selection of hand-dipped ice cream is available and you just have to try one of their old fashioned hand sun milkshakes with your favorite flavor.

The Chocolate Museum

It is known that the chocolate that is available there today was originally first made in London in 1657. The museum features many exhibitions about the making of chocolate where they also display famous desserts from movies such as Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. These displays also emphasis and educate visitors on how chocolate is made and allows them to try different chocolates they wouldn’t usually consider eating. The displays include antique memorabilia from the early days of chocolate making to vintage tins and boxes.

This eccentric property also provides a spacious outdoor seating as well as a Biergarten right next door. Goat Soup and Whiskey also shares this location. This particular restaurant on the island is so full of delicious food items, you could spend the entire day here eating and drinking your heart out. Enjoy a good breakfast while learning the history of chocolate, take a break and enjoy a good beverage at the Biergarten and end it with a classy gourmet dinner at the Goat Soup and Whiskey.

The Chocolate Factory Neighborhood

Just up the street is a challenging Fort aMazin where your placed in a maze and the object is to get out in the shortest amount of time! Located at the Perry’s Family Fun Center, this Put-in-Bay Attractions is just one of many offered there. An Antique Car Museum displays well-restored automobiles from many different time periods.
