The Goat Soup and Whiskey! A Put-in-Bay Classic
Local produce fresh off the farm, chef’s who know how to use them and bartenders who know how to make drinks just the way you like them. That is what The Goat Soup and Whiskey stands for. This restaurant and bar have one of the widest selections of menu items of the casual dining at Put-In-Bay. Originally a winery, it has served and amazed travelers for years. The GOAT in modern slang means ‘The Greatest of All Time’ and the Goat Soup and Whiskey definitely has a claim to that.
The bar and restaurant are open only for about 5 months in the year so make sure you plan your trip to Put-in-Bay between May and the end of September. The Goat Restaurant has a sister location in Colorado where many of the staff work in the winter months. The Goat is located just a 5-minute walk from the downtown Put-in-Bay area just past the Put-in-Bay Churches. Ample car and golf cart parking is located behind the building.
The Goat Menu
The Goat offers up steaks, pasta and the highly popular Lake Erie Perch & Walleye served a Variety of ways. Much of their raw products are sourced from local farms, organic and perfect for your plate. An extensive appetizer menu includes unique flavorful selections such as Reuben Balls, Pierogis, Oysters Rockafeller and lollipop lamb chops. Add to this the high-quality homemade soups that change daily and you have everything you need for a complete meal. The restaurant is considered to be a destination for adventurous travelers, but there is something for everyone!
The seafood is especially good at the restaurant, with Pan Seared Tuna, scallops, seared fish and so much more to choose from. The Goat offers numerous homestyle feel-good favorites like meatloaf, liver & onions and a blue cheese topped sirloin. The Walleye & Perch fish are sourced from our pristine Lake Erie. The Perch Tacos made at the Goat Soup and Whiskey are a must try for any traveler and feature a unique tangy sauce.
The bar at the Goat Soup and Whiskey includes a wide range of spirits from all over the world. One thing for sure thing you can find here, however, is, of course, the whiskey. The full-service bar carries a wide variety of spirits & liquors along with an extensive beer selection. The restaurant has its own Biergarten in the front of the location, in tribute to the German’s fine beer. You won’t regret having a pint or 6 of the Steigl beer there. The outside bar also has a selection of fine wines both red and white sourced from various corners of the world.
A popular pastime is the martini menu which has just about every martini you can think of. The bartenders make everything with signature flair and there are very few drinks that they haven’t heard of.
The Goat Ambience
It feels like a tavern, but a modern one, equipped with everything you need. It serves well as a place to take your significant other for a date. Perfect for a family gathering or hanging out with the boys. There is an outdoor seating arrangement for those who want to enjoy the scenery as the sun begins to set in the evening.
