Go Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner With The Old Forge Cafe & Creperie

Formerly a 120-year-old structure and blacksmith shop, the Old Forge has been reforged into a cafe and creperie serving culinary delights in Put-In-Bay. The Old Forge was opened in 2012 after three friends worked together to renovate the building and turn into the charming brick restaurant and pub it is today. The history of the restaurant makes for a great ambiance, with the oldness of the building seeping into the atmosphere. There are four separate menus of food at different times of the day, the Old Forge has something in it for everyone. The bar is equipped to deal with anything you fancy, with a few signature cocktails offered.

Food At The Forge

As the name suggests, the cafe and creperie mean that the forge specializes in breakfast and desserts in particular. However, there are a lot more menu choices up for grabs too. Breakfast at the forge is probably one of the best ways to start your day at Put-In-Bay. Choose from a full menu of meat, cheese, veggies and more, making breakfast just the way you like it. The crepes at the restaurant are fluffy and light as a feather, stuffed and studded with all sorts of lovely ingredients. Blueberries, strawberries and chocolate chips to name a few. The breakfast crepes are best enjoyed with eggs, perfectly cooked bacon, some pico de gallo and a salad. This is the standard breakfast at The Forge, but there are also breakfast burritos and sliders for those who want to eat light.

While they may be best known for breakfast, their lunch and dinner selections are reasonably priced with large portions and is a best-kept secret among Put-in-Bay Restaurants!

Drinks at The Forge

While the food is the major attraction at The Forge, they also have a bar that can serve up some interesting cocktails. If you like mimosas or mojitos, daiquiris or margaritas, the forge has what you need. Signature cocktails like the Forge 75 or the Forge Bloody Mary during your brunch enhance the ambiance of the restaurant. The outside patio is a perfect place to share a cold one with friends and watch the tourists pass by.

Desserts At The Forge

This is where The Forge outshines the rest of the eateries at Put-in-Bay. The sweet crepes available at the creperie are easily the best in the bay. Years of practice to make the perfect sweet crepes have paid off, for you! The little miss sunshine is one of the prize items that anyone visiting The Forge must have at least a bite. The Buckeye point is a sweet crepe that combines peanut butter and chocolate, a sweet delight.

Ambiance and location

The Forge doesn’t call attention to itself. Tucked away in downtown Put-in-Bay on Catawba Avenue, it is close to all the downtown Put-in-Bay Shopping and nightlife but still maintains a low profile. You will find the Old Forge nestled between the Put-in-Bay Brewing Company and the Reel Bar.

The service at the restaurant is top notch, with staff trained to cater to all your needs. The seating arrangements include a comfortable patio where you can dine underneath a lovely colorful umbrella as well as indoor seating. The restaurant is near the Put-in-Bay Resort Hotel, Bay Lodging Resort and the Edgewater Hotel, which makes it a great spot for a quick and convenient bite. Make sure you pay The Forge a visit during your stay at Put-In-Bay.
