Put-in-Bay Antique Car Parade

Since the 1990’s the Put-in-Bay Antique Car parade has been one of the most popular and watched events at Put-in-Bay. Started by Islander Charles “Skip” Duggan who was instrumental in shaping Put-in-Bay to the destination it is today, the weekly parades have grown to as many as 100 vehicles on a Sunday or one of many holidays.

Put-in-Bay Car Antique Parade Particulars

The parade is open for anyone to participate islander or not as long as they are driving a vintage, historical or antique car. They gather early afternoon at the old building near the Put-in-Bay Ferry known as the Twine Shanty for a little pre-parade fun and then depart into town for the spectacle.

 

Around 2:00 pm hundreds and sometimes thousands of people gather along Deleware Avenue, Hartford Avenue, and Bayview Avenue near the Put-in-Bay Docks to observe the parade. Generally led by the Put-in-Bay Police, the parade brings vehicles of all sizes, shapes and with numerous histories thru the community. You will see scooters, cars, police cars and firetrucks all restored to pristine condition. The favorite for the children is the candy truck at the end of the parade tossings sweet treats to children young and old. After each parade participants gather for a cookout and a beverage or two at local businesses.
