Who said fun can’t be educational? The War of 18 Holes offers children and adults the opportunity to learn about the history of Put-in-Bay and the War of 1812. The Putt-Putt Mini Golf setting located at the Perry’s Cave & Family Fun Center in the center of the island is a challenging game of skill for all ages.

The War of 18 Holes Particulars

The War Of 18 Holes course itself is a real stunner that catches your eye upon arrival. Lushly Landscaped with greenery, shade trees, and surrounded by a garden of flowers including Azaleas, Rhododendrons, and Hostas, the War of 18 Holes is a step back into time. Winding paths, covered bridges, and a waterfall cave are just a few of the challenging obstacles mini golfers will face as they wind their way thru the course.

As each hole is played, an educational nugget of knowledge is shared about Put-in-Bay’s and Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s role in the famous battle that was pivotal in shaping the war of 1812. This turning point battle was a crucial event in the countries war with the British.

Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center

Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center is the center of fun on Put-in-Bay. Everyone from families to bachelorette parties flock to this sprawling complex to enjoy everything from a cave tour to gemstone mining, rock wall climbing, and a maze.

Package deals are available for attractions and groups may be entitled to group discounts. The average attraction at the War Of 18 Holes is about $8.00. If you are planning on multiple attractions within the complex a package may be the way to go. The War of 18 Holes is located just a one mile Put-in-Bay Golf Cart Rental Ride from downtown. Golf Cart parking is plentiful and easy to locate.

 

Other Attractions at the Perry’s Cave And Family Fun Center

 

Perry’s is located about a little more than a mile from downtown Put-in-Bay. Some other nearby attractions include Heinemann’s Winery, South Bass Island State Park, and the Chocolate Cafe. The Put-in-Bay Tour Train also makes regular stops there and allows you to get on and off the train at your leisure. DanDee’s snack shack located on the grounds serves up light family favorites such as chicken Fingers, hot dogs, chips and a variety of cold beverages including the slushy! Perhaps the most well-known attraction at the Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center is the Cave itself. The unique limestone cave served as a location to hold prisoners in the war and a source of much needed fresh drinking water for Perry’s troops.

A well laid out Fort Amaze’n Maze will challenge entrants to discover a way out. Race with friends to see who can find the most direct and fastest route out! Observation towers make a great place for friends or Mom & Dad to watch the action! For a small fee, kids can mine for Gemstones and precious rocks and every child is assured to find at least a few! The rough mix is purchased from the gift shop and panned just as it was done hundreds of years ago. The Antique Car Museum features many of the same vehicles you will see in the weekly Antique Car Parade held on Sundays each week. often times swelling to over 100 cars of all types and eras, the parade is a popular event with families and children alike.
