Put-in-Bay Hotels report record occupancy in 2008

Put-in-Bay Hoteliers reported record occupancy for the Summer 2008 season despite area economic woes. The more popular hotels including the Put-in-Bay Resort, Edgewater Hotel, Bay Lodging Resort and the Commodore Resort all posted record numbers.

Officials attribute the rise to more families staying in the tri state area to enjoy the many vacation opportunities in their area as opposed to taking longer more expensive vacations. High fuel prices over the Summer season also kept travelers looking for more affordable local destinations. "Put-in-Bay offers a wide variety of family activities that appeal to all age groups" stated Paul Jeris, one of the owners of http://www.putinbay.com and one of the largest home rental agencies on the island.

Local hoteliers also are reporting a strong demand early for 2009 reservations. "Traditionally, reservations start tom come in strong in mid December, but we have already booked over 400 rooms for 2009" stated Mark Mathys, the islands largest hotel owner.
